As a Shelter Veterinarian , you’ll provide essential medical care while leading innovation in shelter medicine. You’ll work alongside a compassionate, mission-focused team that values collaboration, communication, and excellence in every aspect of care.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver High-Impact Medical Care : Provide preventive, diagnostic, surgical, and emergency services for shelter animals, including high-volume spay / neuter and complex procedures.
- Lead and Mentor : Supervise and develop veterinary technicians and support staff, fostering a culture of compassionate, high-quality care.
- Shape Medical Standards : Design and implement evidence-based medical protocols that improve outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Champion Animal Welfare : Support animal cruelty investigations through expert assessments and testimony that protect vulnerable animals.
- Collaborate for Community Health : Partner with local agencies, universities, and nonprofits to expand access to veterinary care and strengthen public health initiatives.
What You Bring
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine ( DVM / VMD ) from an accredited institutionActive Tennessee veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain before start date)1+ years of clinical or shelter medicine experience preferred; entry level candidates also encouraged to applyProven ability to lead, communicate clearly, and make confident medical decisionsProficiency in high-volume spay / neuter techniques strongly preferredA deep commitment to animal welfare and community impactWhy You’ll Love This Role
