The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Junior Civil Engineer, Grade 3 for the Water Operations Division within the Department of Public Works. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Water Operations, the position will perform technical and professional engineering work as required. This position will work in the office and in the field on a variety of engineering assignments. The Junior Civil Engineer will perform engineering tasks associated with construction, repair and rehabilitation of the City's water distribution system. This position will review plans and applications for construction projects and will be assigned to conduct resident engineering oversight on public and private construction projects.

ESSENTIAL TASKS :

• Supervise and participate in the inspection of engineering construction projects, check for conformance with plans and specifications, submit reports on progress of project and materials used
• Prepare estimates for labor and material costs
• Prepare plans, specifications and estimates for water supply and distribution system rehabilitation and improvement projects, including checking plans in the field
• Prepare work programs, budget estimates and regular and special reports
• Perform related work as required
