The Videographer and Photographer is responsible for developing and maintaining Cannon School’s photography and videography library, as well as creating and executing content. This role involves collaboration with key school divisions and departments to support website, social media, and marketing campaigns while upholding Cannon School’s policies and brand integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture daily photography of formal and informal events, including students, staff, and school life, with some events occurring outside of regular hours.
  • Create and edit short films for online use and social media platforms.
  • Capture video content throughout the year to contribute to promotional videos and campaigns.
  • Develop storyboards and professionally film video shoots based on agreed-upon briefs.
  • Support the AV Team in capturing and editing long‑form event videos.
  • Engage with students to ensure their voices are reflected in content and assist in photography / videography training for students.

Content Management

  • Resize, edit, and upload imagery to platforms in line with social media and school policy guidelines.
  • Archive, categorize, and tag imagery for the school’s media library.
  • Identify photography and videography needs at the start of the academic year, prioritize, and project‑manage timelines accordingly.
  • Collaborate on podcast and voice‑over asset creation.

  • Utilize AI tools to enhance marketing initiatives while adhering to the school’s core value of integrity.
  • Collaboration and Communication

  • Actively review the school calendar and engage with departments to capture and document school life.
  • Coordinate with external photography contractors during scheduling conflicts.
  • Work with faculty, staff, and students to represent Cannon School positively and consistently across all content.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection and Safeguarding policies in all activities.
  • Education

  • Secondary‑level education required; post‑secondary qualifications in photography, web editing, or design are desirable.
  • Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in photography, videography, and film editing techniques.
  • Experience with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, live video streaming, and live video production.
  • Knowledge of best practices for distributing digital assets (e.g., advertising, social media, film).
  • Basic design skills to support videography and photography content.
  • Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues and engage positively with students.
  • Enthusiastic, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented with a passion for photography and videography.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
