JOB SUMMARY

Under close supervision of the Shift Lead, Engineer, or Supervisor, the Process Technician 1 performs assignments that are routine to moderately difficult in accordance with specific instructions and established work procedures. In addition, this position will perform front-line operation of small- to large-scale chemical processes for the production of pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals. This may include both batch and continuous processing on a twenty-four-hour basis. Work is closely supervised.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with the production of pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
  • Assisting with the maintenance and completion of equipment and facility logbooks and production records.
  • Cleaning, assembling, and dismantling processing equipment.
  • Assisting with chemical inventories.
  • Assisting with facility inspections and cleanup.
  • Detailed instructions are provided for new assignments. Guidance is readily available.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Typically requires 1 year of directly related experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree preferred.

    • COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

  • Must have knowledge of practices and procedures in the area of assignment.
  • Must be able to perform diversified but semi-repetitive operations following standard methods and procedures under changing conditions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to accomplish assignments of a routine nature.

    • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Workplace includes areas where chemical materials are encountered. May involve exposure to a variety of chemical environments and high noise areas. Must have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May be required to use a variety of personal protective equipment.
