Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position in a Level II trauma acute care setting, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and an active IL RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in a 16-bed ICU on the 2nd floor, including MICU with some SICU casesAcute care hospital environment with Level II trauma designationNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2Common procedures include CRRT (prismaflex), TTM-Arctic Sun, mass transfusions, rotaprone therapy, and bedside proceduresPatient population includes trauma (e.g., MVA, drownings, spinal injuries), neuro cases (EVD, LP drain, 24-hour EEG, neurosurgery), sepsis, DKA, post-surgical recovery, and COVIDUtilizes Allscripts - Sunrise EMR12-hour day shifts starting at 7 AMWeekend shifts required every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)Holiday coverage is part of the core staff rotationFloating is rare but may occur to PCU or CVICU, primarily to assist as neededNo call or standby requirementsWork closely with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, hospitalists, and RT available 24 / 7Nurse aides support the unit and a charge nurse or supervisor is present on shiftUnit / department-specific orientation consists of a 12-hour shift on the same unit and shift as hired, plus an initial 12-14 hour orientation dayScrub color is blackParticipate in bedside procedures such as trach care, CT insertion, bronchoscopy, art line insertion, and organ procurementSchedules are posted six weeks in advance; block scheduling is not guaranteed, but can be discussedFirst-day responsibilities include competencies, computer-based modules, and general orientationRequirements
Active IL RN license requiredCurrent certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS; PALS is preferredMinimum of 1 year ICU experience in a Level I or Level II trauma centerExperience in hospitals with 300+ beds requiredStrongly prefer experience with CRRT and pulling sheathsMust be comfortable titrating common ICU drips (e.g., Precedex, pressors, antiarrhythmics, sedation)Ability to interpret telemetry strips (Draeger monitors used)Benefits
