Medix is partnering with a well-established behavioral health organization dedicated to delivering high-quality, accessible mental health services across its community network. We are seeking a board-certified physician (MD or DO) to serve as the Medical Director, providing clinical and strategic leadership within psychiatry and behavioral health programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving access to quality mental health care and leading clinical teams toward operational excellence.
As the Medical Director, you will help shape the organization's medical direction by overseeing psychiatric and advanced practice staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing evidence-based practices within 24 / 7 crisis, residential recovery, and integrated care programs. The right candidate will bring a blend of clinical expertise, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to community mental health.
Overview
This role focuses on promoting clinical and operational excellence across multiple mental health programs. The Medical Director will work closely with senior leadership to ensure the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Location Preferences
The ideal candidate will be based in the Denver metropolitan area and available to work in person Monday through Friday.
A hybrid or fully remote arrangement may be considered for the right candidate, though limited travel may be required.

Compensation

Board-certified physician (MD or DO) requiredActive, unrestricted Colorado medical license and DEA requiredMinimum of 7 years of relevant clinical experience as a physician and / or psychiatrist preferredPrior experience in clinical leadership or administrative roles requiredCompletion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related specialtyPreferred : residency in General Psychiatry and / or Child & Adolescent PsychiatryDemonstrated expertise in crisis services, regulatory compliance, and preferably substance use or addiction recoveryStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsExperience working with multidisciplinary behavioral health teamsProficiency in EHR systems and familiarity with measurement-based careKey Responsibilities
Provide strategic and clinical leadership for psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff.Ensure compliance with state and federal behavioral health regulations and training standards.Oversee clinical quality, medical appropriateness reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.Lead implementation of evidence-based practices, including MAT, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction.Optimize workflows to improve access to care and operational efficiency across programs.Collaborate with HR and program leadership on credentialing, documentation, and policy alignment.Partner with community organizations to strengthen referral networks and integrated care efforts.Represent medical services in leadership meetings, external partnerships, and regulatory communications.
