Program Manager Content Production and Management
The purpose of this position is the timely and high-quality publication of IEEE SA standards and related content. The incumbent will contribute to the IEEE SA's goal of providing volunteers and authors with best-in-class editorial support and services. This person is primarily responsible for expertise in the standards editing and production process; providing exceptional support to volunteers and authors; and developing and applying a continuous improvement mindset that extends to areas as diverse as tools and software improvements to training volunteers and junior staff. This position is part of a highly collaborative, effective team. The person in it must be able to make well-reasoned decisions and exercise good judgment, They must also model professionalism and expertise to junior staff and editorial freelancers. Because this is a standards-developing environment, there is a need to understand the standards development process, to protect IEEE from legal liability through an editorial legal review process, and to develop positive relationships with volunteers and authors. The role typically reports to the Sr. Manager of Content Production and Management and manages 0 direct reports. This is a hybrid position.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage assigned projects, from assignment through publication, working with independent contractors, vendors, and internal entities as needed to ensure that all documents are accurate and published in a timely manner.
- Provide editorial support and professional direction to standards-developing committees, addressing, working through, or escalating issues that include document development, intellectual property, legal, technological and international issues, either directly or through collaboration with internal or external entities.
- Help protect IEEE from liability by ensuring that good standards development practices are understood and followed by program volunteers and that potential legal issues are identified and resolved through collaboration with staff, legal counsel, or designated volunteer committees.
- Establish clear editorial practices that accommodate both the short- and long-term needs or projects and that protect the integrity of approved drafts while ensuring consistency and clarity of content, style, and format. Communicate these practices effectively to content developers, including working groups via presentations, training materials, and webinars.
- Maintain a high level of quality in standards editing and collaboration with volunteers.
- Contribute to the training of internal junior editorial staff and freelancers.
- Participate in cross-functional teams, as needed and assigned.
