CEI Inspector

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Inspector for our Transportation-Construction Management Practice in Western North Carolina. As an Inspector you will observe the contractors work to determine the progress and quality of work on construction projects.

Essential Functions :

• Identify discrepancies, report significant discrepancies to supervisor, and direct the Contractor to correct such observed discrepancies
• Work independently, under general supervision, exercising advanced judgment in the application of standard methodologies and procedures for complex projects
• Perform highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations
• Inspecting construction work and conducting field tests and is responsible for coordinating and managing lower level inspectors
• Reads and interprets contract documents (plans and specifications) to determine if the contractor's work is in substantial compliance with the contract documents. May make and / or check engineering computations
• Maintains detailed accurate records of the Contractor's daily operations and of significant events that affect work
• Inspect construction work
• Perform sampling and field testing of component materials and completed work in accordance with the Construction Contract documents
• Guide junior inspectors, as needed or directed
• Some travel may be required
