Overview
The Graphic Designer role is part of the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team at Santa Fe College. MarCom’s mission is to strategically advance the stature of Santa Fe College and improve recruitment and retention of SF students by producing and providing direction for online, print and promotional materials, as well as consistent and meaningful media relations. The Graphic Designer assists with producing visual content and marketing materials aligned with the college’s brand and strategic priorities as part of a team of Graphic Designers. This position requires the ability to cross-manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail. The role is adaptable, collaborative, and organized to meet department and college needs.
Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with a team of Graphic Designers and the Marketing Manager to deliver design components that meet marketing objectives, align with the brand, and support the college’s strategic priorities.
- Develops creative concepts and design solutions for print and digital media, including marketing collateral, website assets, advertisements, large-scale graphics, and branding materials.
- Manages multiple assigned design projects with evolving priorities and quick deadlines using project management practices and coordinating with the team as needed.
- Partners with internal stakeholders to develop marketing publications and materials.
- Communicates brand guidelines and assists in the approval process for design submissions, including the proper use of logos and branding elements.
- Assists with maintaining the catalog of college logos and licensed images.
- Stores files on a common server for accessibility and retrieval by the Marketing and Communications team, ensuring information is stored correctly and readily available.
- Writes accurate printing specifications for competitive bids and sends print-ready files to vendors.
- Stays abreast of current design trends in the industry and in higher education to ensure creative work remains modern and relevant.
- Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws / regulations governing public employees, including document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
- Honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of employee and student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to : Marketing Manager
Qualifications
Required : An associate’s degree with two (2) years of experience in design and digital media or related areas, or a combination of education and / or experience equal to four (4) years.
Additional Requirements : Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite / Cloud programs, as well as expertise in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro and Dropbox. Working knowledge of the printing process. A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred : A bachelor’s degree with experience in motion graphics, video editing, animation, animated GIF creation, photography and videography.
