To construct and maintain energized overhead and underground distribution lines effectively and efficiently. Read and understand geographical maps, staking sheets, specification sheets, complex diagrams, and all circuits in the system. Prepare and set poles for new service. Restore power in a safe and efficient manner. Repair outdoor lights and install secondary arrestors. Assist with line construction. Responsible for new meter sets and meters. Assist with switching procedures when necessary. Perform the duty of stand-by or on-call in rotation with other crew members. Perform work duties of crew chief and service technician in their absence. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have a minimum of five years' prior experience. Must take and successfully complete apprenticeship training and spend one year as a lineman. Ability to interact courteously and professionally with the public and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work. Knowledge of work methods, occupational hazards, and safety codes for performing line crew operations and maintenance work. Use software applications such as work order systems, Microsoft Office programs, and smart devices. Valid Class A CDL and driver's license required. Must have or receive CPR and First Aid certification. Work is performed primarily outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions. Position requires competing demands; may require occasional work beyond regular business hours. Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment.
