Your Role

As a Hospitalist Physician, you will provide high-quality inpatient medical care at our large 977-bed hospital, managing a diverse range of patients, including trauma and stroke cases. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care while utilizing EPIC EMR systems.

We are hiring for both Hospitalist and Nocturnist positions. The Nocturnist role requires working exclusively overnight shifts, so candidates must be comfortable delivering exceptional patient care during nighttime hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, comprehensive medical care and post-operative care in a 977-bed facility.
  • Manage the responsibility of the floor pager and collaborate with the Nocturnist.
  • Handle a high volume of transfers from a broad referral area, including a Level IV trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center.
  • Utilize EPIC EMR systems and Sound's internal informatics platform.

Local Team Collaboration

  • Join a well-established team of 28 physicians and 8 APPs at Covenant Medical Center.
  • Work alongside dedicated providers committed to patient-centered care.
  • Enjoy a caring environment that values well-being and promotes seamless collaboration across departments.

    • Qualifications

  • Board-certified / eligible candidates are preferred.
  • Internal medicine and family medicine trained physicians are welcome; hospitalist experience is a plus, but new grads are encouraged to apply.
  • ACLS certification is mandatory.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; H1B candidates are invited to apply.

    • Scheduling

  • 7 days on, 7 days off schedule.
  • Day hospitalist shift : 8 AM - 8 PM.
  • Nocturnist shift : 8 PM - 8 AM.
  • Daily coverage includes :
  • Eleven daytime hospitalists (rounders 8 AM - 8 PM).
  • One admitter hospitalist (8 AM - 8 PM).
  • One swing hospitalist (10-hour shift 3 PM - 1 AM).
  • One nocturnist physician (8 PM - 8 AM).
  • Two-day APPs (one rounding, one admitting 8 AM - 8 PM).
  • Two night APPs (cross cover and admitting).

    • Purpose-Driven Work with Local Impact

  • Engage in various committees, including medical executive, utilization management, and quality review.
  • Serve as preceptors for internal medicine residents from Texas Tech University.
  • Participate in community initiatives, including supporting a local children's home.
  • Collaborate closely with case management to ensure comprehensive care for patients from Eastern New Mexico and rural Texas.

  • Hourly compensation ranges from $1900 to $2200, depending on the shift.
  • Base salary for daytime rounders is $347K plus bonuses.
