- Position Overview We are seeking a dependable and experienced Bookstore Manager (Key Carrier) to join our team.
- This position plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Village Books, overseeing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and managing store opening and closing responsibilities.

- Key Responsibilities Serve as a key carrier with responsibility for store opening, closing, and securing the premises.
- Supervise daily operations, ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment.
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting, assisting, and engaging with customers to meet their reading and product needs.
- Maintain knowledge of inventory and make informed recommendations across genres and categories.
- Oversee cash handling, point-of-sale (POS) system operations, and daily reconciliations.
- Assist in receiving, shelving, organizing, and displaying new inventory to maximize sales and highlight featured titles.
- Train, coach, and support bookstore staff as needed to maintain high service standards.
- Coordinate in-store events, book signings, or community gatherings when scheduled.
- Monitor sales goals and assist management in driving store performance.
- Communicate effectively with leadership about staffing, inventory, or operational needs.
- Qualifications Prior bookstore or retail management experience required (at least 1–2 years preferred).
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to supervise and motivate team members.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Experience operating a POS system, and performing reconciliations.
- Ability to lift and shelve books (up to 30 lbs.) and stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and night shifts as required.
