Patient Care Technician

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Provides crisis intervention on the unit to maintain safety. Provides or assists with providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions. Inventory and monitors patient belongings. Manages supplies on the unit. Observes and records patient behavior and activities. Reports any changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggests modifications to the treatment plan. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living.

Additional Job Information : Complexity of Work : Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience : Three (3) months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care or certification of completion from formal training program required. Other Information : EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six (6) months of hire date.
