About the Opportunity A well-established and rapidly growing national food manufacturer is seeking a Regulatory & Product Development Specialist to join its expanding team. This company partners with leading foodservice and retail customers to deliver great-tasting, nutritious products enjoyed across the country. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and creative problem-solving to support product innovation and compliance in a fast-paced environment.
Position Summary The Regulatory & Product Development Specialist supports the creation, reformulation, and commercialization of food products with a focus on regulatory compliance, labeling accuracy, and nutritional analysis . Working cross-functionally with R&D, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Supply Chain, this individual ensures that all products meet both regulatory and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain product formulas, specifications, and technical documentation.
Review and approve ingredient statements, nutrition facts panels, and allergen declarations for FDA / USDA compliance.
Conduct nutritional analysis and verify data accuracy on finished goods.
Support new product development projects, from bench-top to commercialization.
Collaborate with suppliers on ingredient evaluation and regulatory compliance.
Maintain regulatory databases, documentation, and labeling archives.
Stay current on industry regulations, labeling changes, and best practices.
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on regulatory and nutritional requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in food product development, labeling, or regulatory roles (manufacturing or CPG preferred).
Strong understanding of FDA and USDA labeling regulations , including nutrition and ingredient statements.
Proficient with nutritional analysis tools and ERP / PLM systems.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
Must be able to work on-site in Long Island, NY and collaborate effectively across departments.
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of K-12 school nutrition programs , bid specifications, or dietary labeling (allergen-free, gluten-free, etc.).
Background in bakery, prepared foods, or frozen food categories.
