Assistant To Division Chief
Responsible technical and supervisory work as assistant to the division chief of a particular phase of the parkways maintenance program, and related administrative work; and related work as required.
Either : A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Forestry, Park Management, Agronomy, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, Floriculture or closely related field. Civil Service reserves the right to determine the relatedness of the degree.
Or : Permanent status and two (2) years of combined experience as a Parkway Maintenance Supervisor I, Parkways Maintenance Supervisor II, or Parkways Maintenance Supervisor with the Parks and Parkways Commission.
Or : Five (5) years of full-time supervisory experience in tree maintenance and surgery, the maintenance of large turf areas using a variety of grass mowing equipment or in the propagation and maintenance of a large variety of plant life.
Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years. This is an original entrance and promotional examination.
