Truckload Internship, Summer 2026

Under close supervision, this position will gain hands-on experience within the Truckload department. This role will be assigned to a team either responsible for third-party brokerage, trailing equipment planning, supervising a fleet of third-party capacity, or supervising a fleet of independently contracted (IC) drivers. This role gains exposure to market dynamics, coordinating resources, and technology integration within a transportation setting.

Gain exposure and understanding of the transportation industry

Become involved and participate in either transportation brokerage, equipment planning, oversight of a fleet of third-party capacity, or oversight of independently contracted drivers; activities may include freight planning, asset utilization, safety management, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, Customer Value Delivery, carrier verification, and / or maintenance coordination

Build an understanding of market trends, pricing strategies, and capacity challenges that support carrier negotiations and contribute to revenue and margin goals

Observe and practice analyzing trailing equipment needs to maintain equipment pools and promote optimal utilization of assets; gain competency in managing available capacity to match freight volume, using equipment tracking systems, and identifying the impact of supply and demand trends on the network balance

Learn about the technology and tools J.B. Hunt leverages to streamline workflows, enable access to load and equipment information internally and externally, and promote efficiency

Minimum Qualifications :

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program OR graduate degree program in good standing at an accredited college or university. Must be able to work 40 hours a week during the summer.

Preferred Qualifications : Junior or Senior level preferred

Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Willingness to work flexible hours

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
