Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a NE or compact RN license, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, NRP, and BLS certifications.
Responsibilities
Position is in an acute care hospital on a Labor & Delivery unit with 11 L&D beds, 2 OR suites, 2 OB ED triage beds, and 32 postpartum bedsHandles a patient population including laboring mothers, postpartum patients, high-risk antepartums, women's surgical cases, and newbornsFollows AWHONN staffing ratios and handles approximately 1,350 births per yearCommon procedures include inductions, epidurals, natural and water births, circulating in OB OR, and titrating drips such as oxytocin, insulin, and magnesium sulfateUses Epic EMR and OBIX electronic fetal monitoring systemShift is 12-hour nights, 6 : 30pm-7am, with every 3rd weekend and every 3rd holiday requiredStaff may be placed on-call and must be available within 30 minutes when on-callFloating required to LDRP, Postpartum, Nursery, and could float to NICU or other units as neededParticipate in routine care of laboring and postpartum mothers, newborns, and support women's surgical proceduresTeam supported by a charge RN, house supervisor, 24 / 7 surgical techs, and student nurse interns on some shiftsOB hospitalist and neonatal nurse practitioner are onsite 24 / 7Telemonitoring is conducted by monitor techs and reviewed by ICU charge RN when neededMust wear navy blue scrubs or hospital-provided scrubsUnit / department-specific orientation includes shifts on L&D and Mother Baby unitsArtificial nails are prohibited for infection controlEvery candidate must provide two professional references (one supervisor from the last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years) with employment dates and rehire eligibilityRequirements
Active NE or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years RN experience, with recent Labor & Delivery experience requiredCurrent AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, BLS (AHA), and NRP certifications requiredAbility to titrate labor-related drips is requiredMust pass an open book unit-based exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higherDriver's license required to confirm residence outside a 50-mile radiusCandidates may not be current or recent (within 1 year) employees of CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in any capacity (FT, PT, PRN)Benefits
