We're thrilled to announce a dynamic opportunity for you to become an integral part of our Houston, Texas team. As an onsite contributor, you'll play a key role in pioneering a pathway toward a more streamlined and effective healthcare system.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for following referral procedure guidelines, obtaining prior authorization as needed by health plans, processing referrals and scheduling appointments to specialists for patients per provider requests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize referrals according to level of urgency, schedules patient appointments as necessary and communicates referral information to patients.
  • Urgent referrals are processed within 2 business days. Routine referrals should be processed within 5 business days, with the expectation of completing 25-30 referrals daily.
  • Communicate with patients to update them on the status of their referrals and scheduled appointments as needed
  • Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic, current insurance information.
  • Contact medical insurance companies and provide ICD-10 diagnosis for patient's illness, condition or injury.
  • Assemble information concerning patient’s clinical background and referral needs. Per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to specialty.
  • Maintain referrals tracking system and up to date referrals appropriate documentation of referrals to promote team awareness.
  • Patients are notified verbally and given / sent written confirmation regarding their appointment time, location, special instructions.
  • Coordinate appointments as needed with outside facilities and specialist.
  • Follow up on referral status already submitted and performed at least twice weekly and notes made in the referral notes section, as needed
  • Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service and satisfaction for all customers.
  • Communicates with all stakeholders, staff, providers, payers, and patients as appropriate.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Requirements :

  • High School or Technical school education required.
  • Customer Service and Communication skills
  • Proficient : Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) required.
  • Epic EMR experience is highly preferred
  • At least one year of previous experience in this role.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience.
  • Relevant or any other job-related vocational coursework preferred.
