Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with Level 3 or 4 NICU and charge experience for a rotating float assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Level 3 or 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within a short-term acute care hospital
  • Patient ratio is typically 1 : 3 in the NICU
  • Both day (7am-7pm) and night (7pm-7am) 12-hour shifts are available, with variable and rotating weekends required
  • Float assignments are expected between NICU and other units, as well as to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • On-call (standby) is required when not needed on the unit
  • Must have a vehicle to support floating to affiliate facilities
  • Epic EMR is used and experience is required
  • Charge NICU RN duties include care for critically ill neonates and coordination of staff on the unit
  • Strong delivery room and resuscitation skills are required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Scrubs of any color are permitted; OR / L&D scrubs are provided
  • All travelers are expected to float between all local facilities as needed
  • Must be available to work 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Travelers may receive a hotel and mileage reimbursement when floating to Seaside for consecutive shifts
  • Time spent completing required modules prior to start is not billable
  • Free parking is available on site

    • Requirements

  • Active OR RN license required (pending accepted if specified)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent NICU RN experience, including Level 3 or 4 care and charge responsibilities
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • NICU Delivery / Resuscitation experience is required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Two supervisory references from the last three years must be provided
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Former perm staff must wait 3 months before returning as a traveler
