POSITION SUMMARY :
The position supports the Department and / or the Project Manager and Project Management Team (PMT) to include collaboration with other departments in support of project planning and execution. The role’s support responsibilities can be broad and vary from developing / managing documentation deliverables for the Program, supporting preparation and conduct of customer facing meetings, assisting one or more Project Managers to facilitate project planning & execution (including monitoring and control of project performance), proposal / change order coordination, or a primary role in expediting functions in support of the shop floor / yard.
The Project Specialist’s role most often supports Project Management, Project Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance in monitoring and controlling performance across many different aspects of the project and collaborating in making course corrections where necessary to meet project schedule, cost, quality, safety and corporate goals. The Project Specialist position is designed to be a first level PMT position, allowing for career progression to a Project Manager role after accumulating sufficient education, breadth / depth of experience, and demonstrated performance.

JOB SCOPE :
The role operates within general parameters and standards and must use sound judgment and independent decision making when carrying out job responsibilities. As part of the PMT staff, the individual is held accountable for the profitable performance of the work performed. Failure to meet the expectations of the customer could result in significant loss of future business.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS :
This position maintains a variety of professional relationships and must be able to determine the appropriate level of communication and interaction for various situations. The ability to effectively influence decisions through respectful interactions with others both within the Project Management / Production teams and outside of these team is essential in this role. The highly collaborative nature of this role requires a high frequency of daily interaction within the PMT in order to provide the support necessary to plan and execute activities and achieve planned results. Candidate must have a relentless desire and ability to follow through and persist in developing and maintaining productive relationships, both internally and externally.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shop / yard. The individual may be required to be in production areas. He / she / they must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders; to enter confined areas and tanks; to work at heights. The incumbent may be required to lift up to 20 pounds. Good finger, hand and wrist dexterity is required for extensive computer operations. He / she / they may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. There may be local travel up to 5% of the time with notice.
