Overview

BATTERY SYSTEMS ENGINEER (2024-21913) :

Bowhead seeks a System Engineer to join our team in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Power, Energy & Interconnect Technology Division (JXM). The System Engineer shall assist with next generation submarine battery development data analysis and also provide quality assurance services for vendors.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include :

  • Creating System Qualification Test Plans, Performance Test Plans, Safety / Hazard Characterization Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports.
  • Execute (or oversee a team to execute) the tests at NSWC Crane and Expeditionary Battery fielded system locations and battery vendor sites.
  • Conduct Field Integration and Operational Check-out through Initial Operating Capability, perform periodic Field Maintenance on large batteries.
  • Perform Reliability Analyses and Safety Engineering processes on systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field is required with five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Navy manned and unmanned underwater systems.
  • Understanding of system engineering, as applied to the range of energy storage devices such as batteries, fuel cells, and other energy storage and power systems.
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

    • Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand, sit and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

    • Security Clearance Requirements

    Must be able to obtain a clearance at the Secret level; however, candidates who currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level are highly sought. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at these locations.
