About The Position

Job Title : Anesthesia Technician

Hours per Shift : 1 : 30 PM - 10 : 30 PM

Experience : Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech

License : BLS Preferred (American Heart Association ONLY)

Certifications : Certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred

Description :

Under limited direct supervision, assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia.

Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival.

Place anesthesia monitors and ensure the cleanliness of equipment.

Ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies.

Set up medications and supplies where applicable.

Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, and other team members.

Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters.

Operate the cell-saver machine and participate in advanced surgical cases.

Work directly with faculty in designated specialties.

Provide on-call coverage as required.

Provide primary support in ensuring anesthesia equipment is in good working order.

Complete preventive maintenance of anesthesia equipment.

Set up and operate sophisticated equipment, performing advanced troubleshooting as necessary.

Serve as the key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment.

Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs.

Train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.

Perform equipment set up and troubleshooting for various devices.

Set up rooms between cases and ensure full service at the end of the day.

Work with other units to ensure availability of necessary equipment.

Provide support for out-of-OR procedures as needed.

Serve as backup to shift supervisor in his / her absence.

Perform other duties as assigned.
