Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience handling multi-state payroll, with a strong understanding of California payroll laws and Canadian payroll processes being a plus. This role requires accuracy, efficiency, and a deep knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities :
Process payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.Handle California payroll regulations, including overtime, meal breaks, and wage requirements.Process Canadian payroll in compliance with provincial and federal regulations including Quebec.Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.Ensure proper handling of garnishments, benefits deductions, and retirement contributions, work closely with 401k AuditorsReconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies promptly.Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless payroll processing.Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve any issues efficiently.Stay up to date with changing labor laws and payroll regulations in the U.S. and Canada.Qualifications & Skills :
Experience : Minimum 7-10 years of payroll processing experience, preferably with multi-state payroll.Knowledge of California Payroll Laws : Understanding of wage and hour laws, overtime rules, and compliance requirements.Canadian Payroll Experience (Preferred) : Knowledge of federal and provincial payroll regulations.Technical Skills : Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom, Paylocity and General ledger postingsAttention to Detail : Strong analytical skills to ensure payroll accuracy.Communication Skills : Ability to address payroll-related inquiries with professionalism.Certifications (Preferred) : CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) for Canadian payroll.
