IAT Insurance Group has an immediate need for a Surety Claims Counsel that can be located at any IAT location. The ideal candidate may work remotely on a hybrid schedule, being in any IAT Office Monday through Wednesday, with the option to work Thursday and Friday remotely. This role reports to the VP, Claims Counsel and works closely with the SVP, Legal.
Responsibilities
- Interact with attorneys, claimants, owners, and other parties, as well as field management staff to resolve claims issues and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Draft and negotiate necessary documents for each situation, such as Surety Takeover and / or Completion Agreements, settlement agreements, releases, correspondence, reports, and exposure analyses.
- Collaborate closely with underwriters in assigned regions.
- Review and analyze work-in-progress schedules, costs to complete, accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
- Supervise work of outside counsel and consultants' bills before submitting for approval.
- Recommend reserves.
- Manage litigation and salvage recovery actions.
- Analyze payment bond claims and make recommendations regarding payment.
- Select, develop, motivate and train staff to achieve objectives.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of developments in statutes, regulations, and case law in assigned regions.
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
J.D. with 4+ years of relevant Surety Claims and / or Construction Law experience.Licensed insurance adjuster or ability to obtain insurance adjuster license in assigned regions, or license with reciprocity to assigned regions.Ability to travel as needed.All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require, now or in the future, visa sponsorship for employment purposes.Compensation
The annual gross salary range for this position is $82,960 – $180,450. Total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(k) match, profit-sharing opportunities, and more. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location.
