Veg Management Safety Yard Assessor

Pay :

• $35-45 / hour CPUS is seeking   a Senior Veg Management Qualifications Assessor  to perform VM Assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI and utility line clearance standards of tree trimming personnel through field observations at PG&E's Oroville yard.  The Evaluator administers various types of tests or assessments to determine if operations employees in Vegetation Management are performing their job functions correctly and safely.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Perform VM Work Competency Evaluations on a specific area of skill / knowledge including, but not limited to, any task(s) preformed within vegetation management work, and may involve chainsaw use, tree felling, climbing, & cutting aloft, limbing & bucking, and use of aerial lift.
• Provide feedback and coaching in the area of work being evaluated.  Ensure the tree trimmers being evaluated understand your feedback and coaching through effective communication.  Share outcomes, observations, trends, gaps and issues with direct supervisor, the employee’s supervisor and / or manager that contribute to the development and implementation of mitigating strategies as needed.
• Address gaps and issues identified to improve personal and public safety while performing line clearance vegetation management work activities.  Ensure that all PG&E assessment and qualification processes are followed, and that qualification records are maintained in compliance with qualification program requirements.

Must be capable of performing an aerial rescue and pass PG&E Veg Mgt skills assessments for line clearance tree trimmers.  Education and Experience Requirements :

• Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED.
• Any technical or continued education in related field. (forestry, utility vegetation management and / or logging).

License / Certification Minimum :

• Valid driver’s license.
• CPR / First Aid.

License / Certification Desired :

• OSHA 30.
• Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) or Consulting Utility Forester Safety Professional (CUFSP).
• Electric Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP).

Experience Minimum :

• Five (5) years of experience in arboriculture industry.
• One (1) year in trainer or safety position.
• Five (5) years performing work relevant to assessments.

Experience Desired :

• Utility line clearance.
• Three (3) years heavy equipment operating experience.
• Strong knowledge in technical discipline for which incumbent is providing assessments.
