Applications Support System Admin (Lincoln, NE or Alpharetta, GA)

Job Title : Application Support Engineer

Duration : 12-months contract to hire

Location : Lincoln, NE or Alpharetta, GA

Hourly pay : $61 W2 only

Due to client requirement, only USC or GC holders may apply

About the Role :

As Application Support Engineer you will be part of a supportive and flexible environment that encourages thinking outside of the box. Working with other members of the Technical Operations team, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of PKS – Kubernetes Web Services environments. The ideal candidate will be capable of analyzing and solving complex production issues and performing the root cause analysis.

This position is client-facing and supports other internal associates, enabling them to in turn provide world class products and support for our clients. You will be provided the opportunity to initially learn, manage, and maintain existing infrastructure, then branch out to help design and build automation around our existing tasks, while also helping to evolve our processes to support the development team's transition to Agile.

Essential Job Responsibilities :

  • Accountable for driving production incidents to resolution, by analyzing and coordinating with the required parties and always acting as the owner and leader of the situation.
  • Work On-Call shifts.
  • Discuss technical issues with business analysts and developers.
  • Build and optimize SQL queries in order to run on large databases efficiently
  • Analyze Network issues understand the flows and dependencies and discuss it with the Network engineers.
  • Install, configure and maintain PKS – Kubernetes Web Services environments.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis.
  • Participate in application performance testing and troubleshooting across whole software and hardware stack.
  • Recreate problem locally and able to debug the code to identify underlying defects.
  • Perform technical evaluation of the defects.
  • Understand the impact of changes across the application.
  • Operate effectively, and with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines and escalate issues effectively
  • Discuss aspects of the design with architects, team leads and business analysts to check understanding and raise concerns

Basic Qualifications for Consideration :

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills, leading meetings and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • At least 5+ years working with Web Services based architectures (REST APIs, WebMethods, J2EE architecture).
  • Demonstrated experience working with PKS – Kubernetes or Cloud based environments
  • Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education :

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar.
  • Previous experience using Dynatrace APM tool.
  • Previous experience developing REST API services.
  • Fintech market experience.
  • Automation and scripting proficiency (SQL Optimization, scheduled jobs, Splunk)
  • Familiar with Network architecture (XML Gateways, Firewalls, Network diagrams, OneNet connection)
  • Ability to multi-task demonstrating flexibility to easily adapt to changing business priorities.
  • Good report generation skills.
  • Position requires general computer skills including use of MS Office applications and MS Outlook e-mail; familiarity with MS Project and MS Access a plus
  • Awareness / experience of ITIL standard methodologies, ITIL Foundations certification or higher, a plus
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies a plus
  • Knowledge of CI / CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery) process, Agile methodologies; Plus to have experience with Jenkins, Concourse, Git and middleware technologies
  • Travel required : The travel requirements will be minimal (less than 5%). However, there may be business needs for travel (to client locations and other Fiserv locations) and hence some flexibility is expected.
