• Skills in IABP, Impella, and EVD Drain are preferred

Description :

The Surgical Intensive Care Unit specializes in caring for trauma patients, cardiovascular surgery patients, neurosurgery patients, and other complex surgical patients.

Candidates should have experience in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, arterial line management, and blood product administration.

Common diagnoses include acute ventilator need, COVID-19 with high oxygen demand, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe sepsis, unstable gastrointestinal bleed, trauma cases, and open heart recovery.

Clinical responsibilities will encompass management of multi-system organ failure and the need for continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).

Staff ratios are typically 1 : 2-3.

If floating to step-down areas, the ratio may be 1 : 3-4, depending on acuity and skill level.

Weekend work is required every other weekend.

The unit accommodates a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including bedside conscious sedation.

Special equipment utilized includes Swan catheters, internal temperature management devices, CRRT machines, and ventilators.

Candidates should be flexible to meet the needs of the facility.
