Merchandising Analyst

This role supports the Merchandising and Planning functions by analyzing sales and inventory trends, supporting product selection and pricing strategies, and optimizing product performance across channels. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, understands merchandising principles, and uses data to drive informed business decisions. The Merchandise Analyst works closely with cross-functional teams including Buying, Planning, Allocation, Marketing, and E-commerce to ensure our assortments reflect Cavender's brand and meet customer demand.

Analyze sales data and inventory trends to identify opportunities for assortment optimization and profitability improvements.

Provide regular reports on inventory levels, sales performance, and product movement across categories and channels.

Assist in creating and executing merchandising plans using historical data, market trends, and sales forecasts.

Partner with Buying and Marketing teams to develop and evaluate seasonal and promotional strategies.

Monitor pricing and promotional campaigns; analyze effectiveness and provide strategic recommendations.

Build and maintain dashboards and KPI reports to track performance metrics such as sell-through, turn, and inventory productivity.

Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, analyze vendor performance, and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Conduct competitive research and market trend analysis to inform product and pricing decisions.

Collaborate with Planning, Allocation, and E-commerce to align inventory strategies with business goals.

Assist with ad-hoc analysis and reporting needs across departments.

Identify opportunities for process improvement in inventory management, reporting, and merchandise planning.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail, or a related field.

2+ years of experience in merchandise analysis, retail planning, or data analytics.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data modeling).

Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.

Knowledge of retail operations and the merchandise lifecycle.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support cross-functional collaboration.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with merchandising software or ERP systems.

Familiarity with SQL or database query languages.

Experience working in an e-commerce or omni-channel retail environment.

Understanding of financial metrics such as GMROI, inventory turn, and gross margin.

Ability to interpret consumer behavior trends and apply insights to assortment strategies. Effective problem solving and decision-making ability.
