Patient Registration Representative ASC

The Patient Registration Representative, ASC is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and family members during the registration and surgical process, collecting co-pays due at the time of service, answering all incoming internal and external calls to the surgery center, assisting pre-admission team, and help with surgery scheduling when needed. The Patient Registration Representative, ASC will be cross-trained to complete numerous Business office functions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

• Greets and checks in surgical patients, verify insurance, and obtains co-pays when indicated
• Records payments that are collected at front desk daily
• Responsible for directing patients and family members to allocated area. Monitors lobby and waiting areas
• Communicates wait times with patients and family members when necessary
• Communicates with OR staff to direct patient's family member(s) / friend(s) to the consulting room following surgery. If the patients' family member(s) / friend(s) is away from the building, they will communicate with the surgeon on how to reach them
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of patient clinical, demographic, and insurance information as well as preparation of all patient labels
• Assist the pre-admission team with gathering history and physicals, preop testing, and communicating with patients to complete the pre-admission form
• Monitors pre-admission software to ensure the patient has completed all pre-admission forms for surgery
• Ensures verification of insurance benefits and precertification has been completed by surgery scheduling and VOB staff for all procedures two weeks before surgery when possible
• Manages visitors and verifies vendor, observer, and student approval by working with the credentialing department
• Calls patient the day before surgery, providing arrival time and preparation instructions
• Assists in calling patients to come in early / late due to changes in surgery schedule
• Monitors and tracks completion of dictation notes from the surgeon and uploads notes to patients' charts
• Closes charts in EMR; runs reports for charts that need to be completed
• Surgery Schedule, as needed
• Monitors canceled surgeries and close charts as necessary
• Orders office supplies, food, and beverages. Maintains a budget for all ordered items
• Orders Oxygen and Nitrous Oxide tanks as needed
• Maintain locker assignments for all employees
• Assist with laundry / scrub needs with linen company
• Runs necessary reports for benchmarking when requested by manager
