Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Level I trauma and general surgery experience for a hospital-based position in Illinois.
Responsibilities
Work in a 23-room Operating Room within an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospitalCare for a diverse surgical patient population including trauma, neuro, ortho, plastics, transplant, urology, bariatrics, and general surgery casesRequired case experience includes laparoscopic procedures, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple, cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy / discectomy, lumbar fusion, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, fracture reductions, free flap microsurgery, organ donation, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and trauma-related surgeriesUse of specialized equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources and cords, and Hana tablesCerner EMR is used; experience preferredSchedule consists of four 10-hour evening shifts (10 : 45-21 : 15 or 14 : 45-23 : 15), including one weekend per month and on-call one time per weekResponsibilities include perioperative nursing care for a wide variety of surgical specialties, including trauma and complex casesWill work with all OR service lines except cardiovascularMay rarely float within skill set to other units or affiliate hospitals as neededScrubs are provided by the hospitalParking permit is required and provided at no costCandidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays as scheduledAll requested time off must be reviewed and approved by manager, with auto-approval of up to 5 days of non-holiday time offFirst-time travelers are not accepted for this positionParticipation in rapid code response, fire safety, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol (time out), administration of blood products, and urinary catheterization is expectedOrientation includes module completion and required documentation within the first weekRequirements
Active IL RN license in hand or proof of application requiredMinimum 3 years' OR RN experience requiredBLS certification required; CNOR and CST preferredLevel I trauma and general OR experience requiredCerner EMR experience preferredMust live at least 50 miles from the facilityMust not have been a permanent or PRN employee of specified health system within the past 12 monthsCOVID and flu vaccination / testing as per hospital policyBenefits
