Golf Course Maintenance Temporary Position

The City of Loveland is seeking a temporary golf course maintenance specialist. This position offers discounted access to three golf courses and pays between $16.50 and $20.47 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

The role involves maintaining well-kept, high-quality, safe, and aesthetically pleasing golf grounds, facilities, and equipment. Employees may work at any of the golf facilities based on the needs of the Golf Division.

This part-year position can last up to 10 months working less than 30 hours per week, up to 10 months working 30 hours plus per week with a medical coverage benefit option, or a 6-month seasonal position.

The position will remain open until filled. Essential job functions include :

  • Maintaining turf areas through applying fertilizers and pesticides periodically throughout the growing season. Performing aerification on turfgrass areas, overseeding, and top dressing greens, tees, and other special areas.
  • Maintaining the irrigation system by monitoring and repairing problem areas, performing FST checks, raising valve boxes and heads, spot watering, syringing greens, and adding additions to the system.
  • Operating equipment in the construction trade with little supervision to complete small projects.
  • Assisting the mechanic in servicing and repairing golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Setting cups, tee markers, and signs to facilitate speed of play and tournament requirements.

Employees are expected to perform all other related golf course maintenance duties as needed and occasionally assist other temporary employees while completing large tasks and projects.

Job qualifications include :

  • Good work ethic and the ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with co-workers and the general public.

  • Two (2) years of previous experience in golf course maintenance, irrigation, mechanical, and construction trades or landscape industry required.
  • Must be 18 years old upon time of hire.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of application.
  • Material and equipment directly used include utility vehicles, tractors, mowers, spraying and fertilizing equipment, hand and power tools, specialty tools and equipment, fertilizers, and horticulture chemicals.

    Working environment / physical activities involve performing duties in several locations, primarily in an outside environment. Incumbent may be required to push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, move, and position up to 50 pounds, and reach to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions and variable work hours including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
