Departmental Overview

The Center for the Study of Child Care Employment (CSCCE) is grounded in research, policy development, and elevating educators' voices. Established in 1999, CSCCE conducts research and policy analysis about the characteristics of those who care for and educate young children and examines policy solutions aimed at improving how our nation prepares, supports, and compensates early educators. CSCCE provides research and expert analysis on topics that include compensation and economic security among early educators, early childhood teacher preparation and access to educational opportunities, work environments, and early childhood workforce data sources and systems. CSCCE is sponsored by the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE), an "Organized Research Unit" of the University of California at Berkeley.

Position Summary

CSCCE is seeking a Research Analyst to conduct complex, quantitative data analysis, including cleaning and manipulating large unprocessed survey datasets, completing statistical analysis, and summarizing results for research and evaluation projects.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and prepares complex datasets for quantitative analysis using statistical software.
• Analyzes datasets, from original and extant sources, and summarizes data in tables, charts, and visualizations.
• Contributes to research processes including interviews, focus groups, and survey development / implementation.
• Supports the drafting and dissemination of research reports, presentations, and proposals.
• Participates in research and evaluation project planning and development and coordinates with project staff.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $35.78 - $43.10.
