In this position you will lead and strategize the end-to-end merchandise management process, overseeing the assortment planning, procurement, and sales analysis across various sales channels, including online and brick-and-mortar stores. Your extensive experience in retail merchandising, leadership, and data-driven decision-making will be instrumental in driving revenue growth, optimizing inventory management, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive merchandise strategy that aligns with company objectives, market trends, and evolving consumer preferences.
  • Lead the creation of seasonal and annual assortment plans, considering market insights, sales history, and product lifecycle.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of merchandise managers, analysts, and buyers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide clear direction, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Drive data-driven assortment decisions by analyzing sales data, market trends, and customer behavior to identify growth opportunities and refine product offerings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure assortment strategies cater to different customer segments and sales channels.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Ensure vendor compliance and performance monitoring.
  • Lead the development of purchase plans that balance demand forecasting, inventory turnover, and sales targets.
  • Collaborate closely with inventory management teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and manage excess stock.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behavior to guide merchandise decisions and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Analyze sales data and market insights to recommend adjustments to pricing, promotions, and product assortment.
  • Collaborate with marketing, e-commerce, and supply chain teams to align merchandise strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Communicate assortment plans, promotional activities, and product launches effectively to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to develop and manage merchandise budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets and forecasts.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in retail merchandising, with a proven track record of managing omni-channel merchandise strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience in vendor relationship management.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Excel.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of retail industry trends, market dynamics, and consumer behavior.
