job_description.job_card.job_descriptionProcess referrals for students suspected to be in need of occupational therapy services. Obtain parent consent forms prior to screening students. Report and record results of screening and evaluation procedures. Develop IEP components or Section 504 Plan, when appropriate. Determine need for recommended appropriate adaptive equipment needed by individual students. Participate in school meetings regarding students and programs, including pre-referral meetings, MDE meetings, 504 Plan meetings, and IEP conferences, when appropriate. Educate students, educational personnel, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation, health maintenance, and safety. Maintain current records regarding OT programs and student progress. Document OT services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services, as appropriate. Facilitate student adaptation to education through active participation in various OT activities. Serve as a multidisciplinary and IEP team member, providing integrated therapy, as required. Comply with IDEA, Chapter 14, and Chapter 15 Regulations, and standards of practice. Manage inventory of therapeutic equipment and assessments, and project needs for budget planning. Use professional literature, evidence based research, and continuing education content to make practice decisions. Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision making in practice. Maintain current certification, as required by state regulations. Inform the student and the family about appropriate community services and make referrals to those services. Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students to increase understanding of the student’s occupational performance. Ability to plan, coordinates, and conduct continuing education for educational personnel, parents, and students. Provide legal and ethical supervision of certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) assuming responsibility for the students served by assistant. Provide ongoing monitoring of program needs and subsequent recommendations to administration. Travels to assigned schools. Prioritizes and schedules work tasks independently. Communicates with and submits screening results to Director of Special Education and building principal and processing referrals through the school psychologist if further evaluation is warranted. Responds to evaluation referrals for students with disabilities. The therapist selects appropriate evaluation tools, evaluates students, interprets findings, and reports results. Develops a present level of function and Individualized Educational Program (IEP) goals and objectives in conjunction with the IEP team. Perform other duties as assigned by district administration.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited ACOTE program. Master’s Degree preferred. Completion of clinical rotations required.
- Currently licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist by the state of Pennsylvania. (HM)
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- A valid PA license as a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR / L)
Role :
The occupational therapist works on the acquisition of / or compensations for deficits in fine motor skills, sensory motor skills, visual motor and visual perceptual skills, and self-care skills. More specifically, occupational therapists work with students on foundation skills needed for school participation through task analysis, individually selected motor activities, and consultation with team members to modify the environment, the instructional methodology, or to support student achievement on a particular classroom / vocational project.
Terms of Employment :
Two hundred and five (205) day work year. Salary and work year to be established by the School District Board of Directors.
Evaluation :
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
