DIRECTOR OF NURSING - MEDICAL AND SURGICAL SERVICES

Job Summary

Provides leadership and direction for areas of responsibility. Works collaboratively with senior leadership for strategic planning.

Job Responsibilities

• Develops department goals and objectives consistent with medical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements of the health care delivery system.
• Directs and / or assists in prompt resolution of issues and complaints.
• Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
• Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget. Approves and / or monitors expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
• Ensures a high level of patient care is maintained in assigned areas of responsibility through coordination and management of personnel and resources.
• Uses sound business and clinical management strategies to maintain and improve quality; ensures appropriate access; meets established financial goals; develops, implements, and communicates a service line plan, which is aligned with and supports corporate goals.
• Performs job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
• Works autonomously within a stressful environment.
