Lead Website Designer Volunteer

Location : Remote, United States

Position Type : Volunteer, Part-Time

Position Description :

We are seeking an experienced, creative Lead Website Designer Volunteer to join our organization. This role will be responsible for working with the Technology Team and other departments to lead the organization’s efforts to improve the design, usability, functionality, and SEO ranking of its website, ecommerce, blog, etc.

Your Impact on our Mission :

This position is critical to our mission and the key responsibilities you will perform as a part of our Team include, but are not limited to :

Lead the redesign of the website to improve its current look, usability, functionality, and SEO ranking, including the addition of a blog component

Research, install, and / or develop tools and plugins that will allow the optimization of the website and improve the customer experience, while increasing online sales and making the website more attractive and functional

Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling the website to meet changing needs

Collaborate with the Technology Team and other departments to address outstanding needs and / or issues and establish action plans to address them

Stay on top of emerging technologies / industry trends and apply them to operations

Manage a team of professionals focused on website design and maintenance

Manage and keep operational documents current

Assist in developing related policies, procedures, and other documents for the organization

What You’ll Bring to the Team :

Along with their passion for our mission, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications :

3-5 years of experience in web design / development, programming, content management, enhancing user experience, and SEO

Experience utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, iQuery, CMS, CRM, and MySQL, with an understanding of cross-browser, cross device optimization / functionality

Experience utilizing Word Press

Familiar with webhosting setup and platforms

Familiar with website design standards

Knowledge of marketing and analysis platforms, such as Google AdWords and Google Analytics

Experience in expanding ecommerce

Solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices

Experience implementing modules and plugins for CMS model

Ability to manage and lead projects with multiple team members

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred

Prior experience with a non-profit organization is preferred

Location within the 48 contiguous United States is highly preferred

Applicants must also have the ability to attend periodic meetings conducted during regular business hours in the Central Standard (CST) Time Zone. We are looking for someone who can dedicate a few hours per week, and can commit for at least 6 months (though we’d love to have you even longer)!
