Incumbents work to acquire the necessary skills and experience required to perform the full range of duties within the Registered Nurse series.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists. • Coordinates health services and treatment.\n
• Collaborates with professional and paraprofessional staff to ensure optimum patient care.\n
• Carries out therapeutic procedures which provide for the emotional and physical comfort of patients.\n
• Identifies patient health care needs utilizing professional nursing assessment skills.\n
• Makes comprehensive clinical observations and evaluations of health needs including subtle abnormalities and changes in condition.\n
• Records and reports indicative signs and symptoms of physical and mental condition.\n
• Prepares nursing care plans by assessing a patient's psychological and physical condition and conferring with other health care professionals.\n
• Evaluates needs and develops nursing diagnoses, plans for treatment, services, and health education based on the needs of the patient.\n
• Identifies immediate and long-term care goals.\n
• Reviews and revises care plans as needed.\n
• Administers medications intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, topically, and orally as prescribed by a physician or designee as allowed in the practice setting.\n

• Respond to and resolve patient care issues.\nRequired Certifications and Licenses : \n\nA current Nevada Registered Nurse License.\nExperience and Training : \n\nAny combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge and ability is : \n\nA Bachelor's degree in nursing and a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada.\n\nPhysical and Mental Requirements : \n\nThe physical and mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.\n\nStrength, dexterity, coordination, and vision to use a keyboard and video display terminal. Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; periodic lifting of files, stacks of paper or reports, references, and other materials. Some bending, reaching, squatting, and stooping to access files and records is necessary.\n\nThe manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate a personal computer using word processing and databases. The ability to communicate via telephone and in person. Mental stamina to deal with emotionally difficult situations. Lighting conditions are typically good. Frequent interruptions to planned work activities occur. On-call work schedules are normal and incumbent will be required to be available on short notice. Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids is common. It is common to engage with family members of patients during emotionally difficult periods of time.
