Conciliator (2025-166)

Overview

The Conciliator administers and manages no-fault arbitration cases in accordance with rules and regulations of the New York State Department of Financial Services, applicable insurance laws, and the AAA's rules and procedures. Ensures the accuracy of documentation and information, and maintains efficient communication between parties.

The successful applicant will have a remote work arrangement, but must reside within a 125-mile radius of their assigned AAA office location (NYC or Buffalo).  This position's starting annual salary range is based upon location, with quarterly incentive opportunities.

  • New York, NY - $70,000 - $74,000
  • Buffalo, NY - $59,000 - $62,000

Essential Functions

  • Maintains accurate electronic case-related documentation and information; conducts initial review of new case filings; confirms accuracy of records and documents.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and application of NYS Regulation 68 and 35D arbitration sections related to NYSI Division's operations. Makes appropriate decisions in case handling and addresses complex inquiries. Understands NYS insurance forms and documents related to NYSI division procedures.
  • Establishes professional rapport with user community, stakeholders, and internal associates; maintains neutrality; responds to inquiries in a timely manner; resolves problems to foster efficient case management; escalates unresolved and complex issues to supervisor.
  • Ensures confidentiality of case information and records; adheres to AAA's information security and data privacy policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Provides timely notice to parties throughout the case life cycle; communicates AAA policies and procedures effectively.
  • Completes assigned administrative tasks in online case management system; adds issue codes to case records.
  • Resolves problems efficiently using available resources, including system data.
  • Continues learning NY No-Fault Insurance laws and regulations through self-study and AAA learning tools.
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable job attendance.
  • Attends meetings and training events, both on-site and virtual.
  • Education & Experience

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, insurance, or related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. 1-3 years of basic insurance claims administration experience preferred. Introductory knowledge of NYS Workers' Compensation Fee Schedule and NYS No-Fault laws / Regulation 68 preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess case information, identify issues, and resolve problems.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining case records and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and adapt to case management systems.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry practices, NYS No-Fault laws, and arbitration processes.
