Our Purpose

Our purpose is to expose UTEP students to options that best fit their individual career needs and aspirations. To that end, the Career Center provides part-time and full-time job listings, internship, and experiential learning opportunities, career / job fairs, career development workshops and presentations (e.g., résumé writing, job search correspondence, interview preparation, negotiating a job offer, navigating a career fair, etc.), résumé reviews, job search assistance, interview coaching, on-campus and virtual interviews, and employer contacts.

Hours : up to 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8 : 00am- 5 : 00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status : Exempt

Earliest Start Date : As soon as possible.

Salary : $40,008 annually

The primary accountabilities are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the incumbents' performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate supervisor or manager. This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.

Purpose of Position

The Employer Relations Manager is part of the Career Center's employer relations team and reports to the Associate Director for Employer Relations. The employer relations (ER) team is responsible for ensuring employer recruitment needs are coordinated and met so that employers can recruit and identifying talent from UTEP. The University Career Center serves as the official and centralized office, employers for all their recruiting needs : information sessions, information tables, on campus interviews, job postings, faculty meetings, presentations, workshops, or other student / faculty engagements.

Essential Functions

  • Manages platform, Handshake, employer entries and event queue, ensuring employer events are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Meets with employers to develop a customized recruitment plan. Provides information on University Career Center services, university demographics, and degree inventory.
  • Coordinates in-person and virtual employer recruitment events by developing agendas, reserving on campus facilities, requesting parking, promoting events on campus, coordinating meetings with UTEP stakeholders, invoicing, and preparing confirmations.
  • Updates and maintains all employer-facing handouts.
  • Maintains employer recruitment guidelines and resources, ensuring adherence to university policies, UT System, and employment law.
  • Updates on-campus recruitment assessment efforts for student learning outcomes and employer program outcomes, ensuring data accuracy for assessment and reporting.
  • Assists with the development and execution of employer recruitment strategies to enhance student-employer connections, increase recruitment opportunities, and establish, maintain, and strengthen partnerships.
  • Creates and disseminates monthly employer newsletter and prepares weekly communication for faculty and staff to inform of recruitment activity impacting their students.
  • Maintains employer relations documentation for each partnership, ensuring organized and comprehensive records.
  • Updates and revises employer facing website content, including employer guidelines, recruitment calendar, and other relevant information.
  • Oversees Career Center interview rooms. All on-campus recruitment activities ensure smooth operations and professional accommodation.
  • Oversees Employer-Led Academies, working with employer partners to provide students with professional development opportunities.
  • Provides content for a social media platform related to employer engagement, developing strategic employer outreach initiatives each semester.
  • Supervises full-time staff and student employee, ensuring their professional development and effectiveness in their roles.
  • Represents the University Career Center at tabling events and employer sessions.
  • Executes other duties as required.

    Required Qualifications

    Education : Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university within area of assigned responsibility.

    Experience : Five years of related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
