The Tool Room Clerk supports the assigned department by assembling tooling and facilitating efficient production processes. This role involves collaborating with team members, managing raw materials, processing purchase orders, and ensuring timely shipment of parts to customers.Job Details
- Position Type : Full-Time / Non-Exempt (Hourly)
- Pay Range : $19.43 - $20.14 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
- Work Location : Onsite - Sterling, IL 61081
- Shift : 4 : 30am - 2 : 30pm (Mon- Thurs)Key Responsibilities
- Support lean initiatives by promoting continuous improvement practices within the organization.
- Collaborate effectively with all team members and departments to ensure smooth operations and achieve common goals.
- Create and maintain job routing and bills of materials to streamline production processes.
- Analyze existing processes and implement modifications to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Determine the most effective approach for tooling needs, deciding whether to build internally or purchase externally.
- Maintain adequate inventory of raw materials for tooling to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Issue raw materials to jobs as needed, ensuring timely availability for operations.
- Process purchase orders for outside operations, coordinating with vendors to meet production requirements.
- Facilitate the movement of tooling throughout the facility to support workflow and efficiency.
- Implement changes to tooling as requested, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Communicate with customers regarding deviations or operator inquiries, providing timely and accurate information.
- Prepare and ship parts to customers, ensuring adherence to quality and delivery standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.Skills / Competencies
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow and interpret verbal and written work instructions.
- Intermediate mathematic skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to use hydraulic press, pedestal grinder, drill press, lathe, surface grinder, hand grinder, calipers, micrometers, power cutter and basic hand toolsQualifications (Preferred)
- Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experiencePhysical Requirements :
- Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
- Must be able to push / pull objects up to 30 pounds.
