Distinguishing Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate professional development learning activities to build capacity to support Special Educators in the areas of special education, math, literacy, family engagement, mentoring and induction, MTSS, and social-emotional learning.
  • Participate in collaborative preparation and planning meetings with ESE Network and South Cook ISC staff.
  • Develop regional networks for mentoring new special educators, veteran special educators, and special education directors.
  • Provide targeted coaching and technical assistance to districts and schools in the following areas : literacy, math, learning trajectories, student engagement, Universal Design for Learning, and differentiated instruction.
  • Provide targeted resources, educational materials, and technical assistance to address family engagement, two-way communication, and social-emotional needs.
  • Provide targeted coaching and technical assistance to districts related to co-teaching and professional learning communities.
  • Facilitate connections between institutions of higher education and teacher preparedness to develop innovative solutions for special education openings.
  • Participate in Professional Development activities.
  • Attend State / Regional meetings when applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License.
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1).
  • Five years of teaching experience.
  • Coaching experience (preferred).
  • Ability to collect and analyze data from various sources and evaluate and make recommendations.
  • Skilled in technology and data analysis.
  • Proven experience working with adult learners.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, and follow state, federal, and district guidelines.
  • Salary / Benefits : This is a  part time employee with salary ($80,000) and benefits contingent upon qualifications and experience.
