Job Description : Controller for Non-Profit Organization

Location : San Francisco (East Bay Area), California

Employment Type : Full-Time

Salary Range : $130,000 - $175,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Reports To : Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or Executive Director Organization

We are seeking a skilled and mission-driven Controller to join our team and support our financial operations to further our impact.

Position Summary :

The Controller will oversee the financial health of our organization, ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and strategic financial planning. This role will lead the accounting team, manage budgeting processes, and provide critical financial insights to support the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, strategic thinker with a passion for non-profit work and a commitment to fostering financial sustainability. Key Responsibilities :

Financial Management & Reporting :

• Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, payroll, and grant accounting.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, non-profit accounting standards, and federal / state regulations.
• Present financial reports to the Board of Directors and senior leadership, providing actionable insights.
