Medical Assistant - MedPoint Urgent Care
Location : Various Urgent Care Sites
Reports To : Practice Manager | Clinical Supervisor | Clinical Educator
About the Role :
As a Medical Assistant at MedPoint Urgent Care, you'll play a vital role on the front lines of patient care. Working closely with Physicians and Providers, you'll support clinical and administrative functions to ensure efficient, compassionate, and high-quality care in a fast-paced urgent care setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, wound care, and emergencies
- Collect and process lab specimens, perform point-of-care testing, EKGs, and administer injections
- Accurately document medical history, vital signs, and assist with medication administration
- Prepare patients and exam rooms, clean / sterilize equipment, restock supplies
- Perform triage, assess acuity, and alert the team for urgent cases
- Educate patients on treatments, ortho devices, and follow-up care
Administrative Tasks
Greet and check in patients, answer phones, manage messagesMaintain accurate patient records and complete referral and workers' comp documentationHandle DOT and employment screenings (including vitals, drug screens, vision / hearing tests)Coordinate referrals and schedule follow-upsSupport communication between patients, providers, and other locationsTeam & Organizational Engagement
Attend team meetings, complete required training and certifications (e.g., CPR / BCLS)Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiativesFloat between Urgent Care locations as neededAdhere to safety, compliance, and infection control standardsWhat We're Looking For
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferredMedical office or clinical experience is a plusBilingual in Spanish is desirableMust be at least 17 years oldSkills & Qualifications
Proficient in patient care techniques, vitals, venipuncture, and EKGsStrong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skillsComfortable using computers and electronic medical records (EMRs)Able to lift 50+ lbs and stand / walk for long periodsFlexibility to work varied hours and locationsOur Mission, Values, and Culture
