What's your day like?

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) working a 12-hour day shift at The Friendship Home, you will be instrumental in providing direct care to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity throughout the day. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting residents with essential morning routines, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, as well as facilitating mobility, transfers, and positioning. You will contribute significantly to meal service by delivering trays, assisting with feeding, and meticulously documenting food and fluid intake. Throughout your shift, you will monitor vital signs, promptly respond to call lights, and provide ongoing hygiene and comfort care.

You will also prepare residents for activities, therapy sessions, and family visits while maintaining tidy living spaces stocked with necessary supplies. Furthermore, accurate documentation, adherence to care plans, and effective communication with nursing staff are essential to uphold our standards of care and safety.

What we're looking for in a Certified Nurse Aide

To excel as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at The Friendship Home, a combination of essential skills and qualifications is necessary. You must possess a solid understanding of basic patient care practices, including bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance. Proficiency in vital signs measurement—temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation—is crucial, along with knowledge of infection control practices and safety protocols.

The ability to follow individualized care plans and document care accurately is paramount, as is an understanding of proper body mechanics for safe lifting, transferring, and repositioning residents. You must also be aware of residents’ rights, confidentiality, and HIPAA guidelines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with residents, families, and healthcare staff.

Additionally, you should demonstrate dependability, professionalism, and compassion while being willing to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to the ever-changing needs of residents. Maintaining an active CNA license, along with current certifications in Mandatory Reporting and CPR, is required.

  • Current Mandatory Reporter Certification
  • Current CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
