Position Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, nurturing, and closing new client opportunities across all service divisions : landscape design / build, maintenance, enhancements, irrigation, and specialty services. This role builds relationships with property owners, managers, builders, developers, and other key decision-makers to create a consistent pipeline of qualified leads.
The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, strategic thinker, and relationship builder who thrives on making connections and driving company growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Relationship Building
- Identify, research, and develop new client relationships in target markets
- Network with property managers, general contractors, developers, architects, and high-end homeowners
- Represent the company at local events, trade shows, industry associations, and community gatherings
- Build and maintain a referral network through partnerships and trust-based selling
Sales Process & Opportunity Management
Qualify leads and conduct discovery meetings to understand client goalsPartner with estimating, design, and operations teams to develop proposals and presentationsPresent solutions that align with client needs and our core service offeringsTrack opportunities through CRM system and support follow-ups through to closeProposal Support & Contract Closeout
Collaborate on the development of professional, branded proposalsAssist in pricing conversations and contract negotiation when neededEnsure proper handoff of signed agreements to production and operations teamsMaintain communication with new clients through the onboarding processMarket Research & Strategy
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitive activity, and market shiftsAnalyze geographic and service line growth opportunitiesProvide insights and suggestions to the leadership team on emerging client needs or strategic investmentsHelp build and refine messaging and branding materials in collaboration with the marketing teamQualifications
Required :
3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client-facing role in landscape, construction, or a service-based industryDemonstrated ability to generate leads and close dealsExcellent communication and presentation skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsValid driver's license and reliable transportationComfortable using CRM software and digital sales toolsPreferred :
Knowledge of landscape design / build, maintenance, or enhancement servicesExisting network in the commercial real estate, high-end residential, or general contractor sectorsExperience with Aspire, LMN, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platformsBachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Horticulture, or related field
