Associate Director, Business Development – Mergers & Acquisitions

Location : New York, NY (Hybrid)

Type : Full-Time

Salary Range : $180,000 – $262,000

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading Am Law 100 firm, is seeking an Associate Director of Business Development to support its Mergers & Acquisitions practice. This role will lead and implement strategic business development and client initiatives, while managing a team dedicated to supporting the practice’s growth and visibility.

The position is ideal for a senior business development professional with proven experience in Am Law 10 firms (preferred) or Am Law 50 (considered for strong candidates) , who can partner with top-tier attorneys to elevate client relationships and drive practice growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with practice group leaders, partners, and BD leadership to design and execute strategic initiatives
  • Drive key client development and targeting to strengthen relationships and expand opportunities
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities across practice groups and offices
  • Develop tailored proposals, pitches, and strategic communications for M&A pursuits
  • Lead content-driven marketing campaigns and thought leadership to enhance visibility
  • Monitor industry trends and competitive intelligence to inform strategy
  • Plan and execute client-facing events, seminars, and programs
  • Oversee practice group BD budgets to ensure alignment with firm objectives
  • Travel as needed to support client development initiatives

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or law (required)
  • 12+ years of progressive marketing / business development experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in a law firm setting
  • Demonstrated experience supporting M&A practice groups (required)
  • Deep understanding of legal industry trends and corporate client expectations
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills with ability to turn data into insights
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, CRM, and document management systems
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to drive collaboration and mentor teams
