Overview
Kiewit is looking for a Regional Environmental Lead who will lead environmental management practices and permitting compliance for construction operations. This position supports compliance with legal and contractual environmental requirements and contributes to Kiewit's corporate social responsibility.
Location
This position can be based anywhere near a Kiewit home office in California and will require extensive travel across the state. Remote-only and non-travel roles will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead the environmental compliance and permitting for the construction operations.
- Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company.
- Update environmental plans.
- Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water quality, underwater noise, etc.).
- Identify wetlands and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities.
- Maintain project data tracking requirements.
- Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
- Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training for staff at all levels.
- Act as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues.
- Coordinate with relevant crews on work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices.
- Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings to minimize adverse effects on the environment and local communities.
- Prepare project and Kiewit-required reports communicating environmental risks to project management.
- Attend field visits with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Liaise with the client, providing design information, schedule details, quantities, and ensuring awareness of unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues.
Qualifications
Minimum undergraduate degree in an environmental health or engineering field.8+ years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large-scale construction projects (OGC or EPC experience would be ideal).Qualified Environmental Professional designation preferred.Working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation.Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.Strong work ethic and commitment to ethics and integrity.Passion for safety and the ability to help ensure that nobody gets hurt.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines and objectives.Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.Compensation & Benefits
Base Compensation : $110,000 / yr - $150,000 / yr. Actual compensation varies based on education, experience, skillset, and location.
