An externship at an NVA Equine hospital offers students practical experience in an independent equine practice and insight into the daily operations of an equine hospital.

Students will work alongside veterinarians and interns to gain experience in :

• lameness diagnosis and treatment
• client communication skills
• reproductive care
• surgery
• emergency medicine
• imaging
• ambulatory services
• dentistry
• preventive medicine

Students may assist with outpatient and hospitalized cases during business hours and after-hours emergencies.

Externships are available for current veterinary students, regardless of class year, with preference to fourth-year students.
