Compensation : $22–$28 / hour (depending on experience and certifications)
Location : Centennial, CO
FLSA Exemption : Non-Exempt
Schedule : Full-time, Monday – Friday, with occasional overtime and weekend work depending on project needs
What you'll be doing :
Perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates to ensure materials meet project specifications, CDOT requirements, and industry standards.
Conduct density, compaction, and moisture testing using nuclear gauges and other field testing equipment.
Collect and prepare construction material samples for laboratory analysis.
Accurately record test data and prepare clear, legible field reports for submittal to project managers and engineers.
Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and testing procedures to verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering requirements.
Communicate testing results and observations clearly to contractors, engineers, and project managers.
Maintain and calibrate all assigned testing equipment in accordance with CMT and manufacturer standards.
Uphold CMT's commitment to safety , ensuring all work is performed according to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
Represent CMT professionally on active construction sites and with clients throughout the Denver Metro area.
What you have :
High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or degree in civil engineering, construction materials, or related field preferred.
1–3 years of experience in construction materials testing or geotechnical fieldwork preferred (entry-level candidates will be trained).
Familiarity with CDOT, ASTM, and AASHTO testing procedures.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs).
Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
What will make you stand out :
Prior experience working on transportation, infrastructure, or commercial development projects in Colorado.
Hands-on experience with nuclear density testing, concrete sampling, and soil classification.
Strong understanding of construction materials, field procedures, and quality control documentation.
Self-motivated and adaptable with a professional, client-focused demeanor.
Preferred Certification(s) :
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (required or obtainable after hire)
WAQTC Certifications in Soils, Aggregate, or Asphalt
CDOT Lab / Field Tester Certification (preferred)
Nuclear Gauge Safety and Operations Certification
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training
