We are seeking an experienced Licensed Land Surveyor to lead our civil and transportation survey projects in the Middlesboro region. This senior-level position combines field leadership, project management, and client relationship development in a stable, employee-owned firm recognized for its top-tier benefits. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise multiple field crews and office survey technicians to ensure project success.
  • Plan daily operations, enforce quality assurance and quality control, and manage project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate with VDOT and local municipalities on roadway, utility, and civil survey projects.
  • Support business growth by contributing to proposals and cultivating client relationships.
  • Mentor and coach staff through regular one-on-one sessions, performance reviews, and career development plans.

Required Qualifications

  • PLS license or eligibility to sit for the exam within six months of hire (exam fees covered by the company).
  • Minimum of 12 years of professional survey experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Extensive experience with DOT and municipal survey projects.
  • Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local survey regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelors degree in surveying or civil engineering technology preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in subsurface utility locating and designating.
  • Experience with LiDAR, aerial mapping, or sUAS operations.
  • Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary range $85,000 - $145,000, based on licensure and leadership experience.

  • Sign-on bonus $5,000 - $10,000 available at 90 days, with relocation assistance options.

  • Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with regular field visits.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs for fieldwork when needed.
  • Typical work week 45-50 hours.
